Chapter 28: Descending Hugs

Kian clenched his jaw as he pulled his girlfriend out of the building. He let out a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding when a light breeze blew across his face, cooling his heated skin.

"Kian, slow down!"

He turned to see that Junie was righting herself as if she had just tripped. His eyes widened and he dropped her hand once she had steadied herself. "Sorry," he said, running a hand through his wavy dark hair. He put a finger beneath her chin so he could tilt her face toward his. "Are you alright?"

He smirked a bit at the exasperated look on the young woman's face. Her almond-shaped eyes were wide, her smooth pink lips parted slightly as she gaped at him.

She was so cute.

"I should be asking you that," Junie said, crossing her arms over the chest of her thin purple flannel. "What was that about back there? Did Liam spit in your Cheerios when you were five or something?"
