Chapter 31: This

Junie stared at the front door of her apartment, still trying to process what had just happened. She couldn't believe Callie actually took off like that. Then again, the younger girl did seem to enjoy a bit of drama. As a child, she was known for throwing temper tantrums and gaining looks from every stranger within a one-hundred-foot radius.

It took her another moment but she finally snuck a glance at Kian, who was staring at her intently just as she feared he would be.

She quickly averted her gaze. Despite the many months they'd been dating at this point, she still felt bashful around Kian. She still didn't fully understand why, although she could guess that it was at least partially due to the fact that Kian wasn't shy at all.

Her boyfriend didn't turn pink when Junie looked at him. He didn't want to avert his eyes whenever they made eye contact with one another.

Junie swallowed. "Any chance you'll forget what Callie said?"
