Chapter 43: From Rags to Glitter

"Thanks for agreeing to do this with me, Cal."

"Why wouldn't I agree to do this?" Callie basically demanded as she added another pin to Junie's hair. "I've been wanting to go to a ball with Micah forever! He's gotta learn to be a little more romantic."

Junie laughed. "It's not really a ball," she said, resisting the urge to roll her eyes since Callie would definitely see that in the vanity mirror she was facing.

Callie's hands froze in Junie's hair, her thin eyebrows furrowing in confusion. "Didn't you call it a ball?" she asked.

"It's a charity gala," Junie said.

"But there's gonna be food, and dancing and people in fancy dresses," Callie said. "That's basically a ball. Look at the dresses you made us! We look like princesses!"

Junie stood up from the vanity in Callie's room, staring down at the gown she made. She never made anything this extravagant. This was her first time attempting a ballgown and she had to admit that she did pretty well.
