Mr. Jack and Angelina

Chapter 4: Mr. Jack and Stella

"It will cost 1.2 million Naira," the sorcerer stated.

"Oh no! That's too much; I can't afford it," Stella lamented.

"What amount can you afford?" the sorcerer inquired.

"I can manage to gather 800,000 Naira," Stella offered.

"Alright, but you must pay before the end of this week. If you don't, the problem will become permanent. After payment, you'll need to wait seven days for the sacrifice to be ready," the sorcerer said.

The sorcerer had already foreseen that Stella would pass away within seven days, which was why he intended to deceive her.

"Please give me your account number so I can transfer the amount," Stella requested.

The sorcerer provided his account details, and Stella left.

The next day, the sorcerer received the payment. Stella called to confirm, and he began planning how to spend the money.

He decided to withdraw the entire amount and planned to indulge in a night of fun at the club.

At the club, the sorcerer drank, ate, and enjoyed himself, wasting almost all the money. He even bought drinks for others in the club.

Seven days later, Stella visited him and asked about the sacrifice he had promised to prepare for her.

However, the sorcerer regretfully informed her that he had been robbed of the money he had planned to use for the sacrifice. He lied.

"You must be joking!" Stella exclaimed, her anger rising. "You have three days to prepare the sacrifice, or you will regret it!" With that, she stormed out of the house.

A few minutes later, Stella returned with two police officers, pointing at the sorcerer.

The officers aimed their guns and fired, causing the sorcerer to collapse to the ground, lifeless.

Suddenly, the sorcerer woke up in his bed, drenched in sweat.

"Oh my goodness, it was just a dream," he gasped. "I reject this fate. It will never be my reality. The girl who sought my help and was supposed to die before the seven days has now come to attack me in my dreams. I am certain she has already passed away."

Reflecting on his dream, the sorcerer mused, "If only I had not gone to the nightclub and had instead used the money for something meaningful, like buying blocks and cement for the foundation of my land."

"No matter, the gods will bring another person like Stella into my life." With that thought, he drifted back to sleep.

One day, while driving home, Mr. Jack's car suddenly stalled in the middle of the road. Despite several attempts to restart it, the engine remained unresponsive.

He stepped out and sought the help of a passerby to push the car to a safe spot.

After parking, he called his mechanic, requesting repairs, and asked the mechanic to drive the car back home once completed.

Meanwhile, he flagged down a passing motorcycle, negotiated a fare, and hopped on. During the ride, Mr. Jack noticed a young girl who had tripped and fallen while selling peppers. Concerned, he asked the motorcycle driver to stop.

After paying the driver, he crossed the road to check on the girl. Approaching her sympathetically, he asked, "sorry, how did this happen?"

Through her sobs, the girl explained, "A customer called me from across the road, so I rushed to sell to her. Unfortunately, I didn't notice a big stone in front of me, hit my leg on it, and fell down."

Mr. Jack empathized with her and asked, "Oh no! How much did you lose from the spill?"

"Ten thousand five hundred Naira, sir," the girl replied.

Mr. Jack regretfully admitted, "I'm sorry, I don't have much with me. I only have seven hundred Naira, and I need two hundred for my transport."

He reached into his pocket, pulled out five hundred Naira, and kindly offered it to her. He then asked for her bank account.

Overwhelmed with gratitude, the girl mentioned she used Opay. Mr. Jack asked for her account number to send the remaining amount.

In her mind, the girl expressed her gratitude to God: "Thank you! I have been crying for the past 30 minutes, and no one has even asked about the cost of the spilled peppers until you sent me this help. I am so grateful!"

"Check your phone; I've sent the remaining amount," Mr. Jack said with a smile.

As she checked her phone, her eyes widened with surprise and joy.

Her balance now showed 9,000 Naira, as she had only 500 Naira before.

"Thank you so much, sir! I'm so grateful!" she exclaimed.

"You're welcome. I'll leave now, but I'll call you later. Is your Opay account number the same as your phone number?" Mr. Jack inquired.

"Yes, sir," she replied.

"Alright, I'll be in touch. Goodbye," he said.

"Bye, sir, and thank you once again," the girl called after him, her heart filled with gratitude.

Two days later, Mr. Jack called Angelina, and she picked up her phone.

"Hello, it's me, the man who sent money to you when you accidentally spilled your peppers."

"Thank you so much for the money you sent me that day," Angelina said.

"You're welcome. How are you doing today?" Mr. Jack asked.

"I'm fine, sir."

"What's your name?"

"Angelina," she answered.

"Good. I would like to meet you today so we can have a conversation together," he suggested.

"Yes, sir," she agreed.

"Let me send you some money for transport so you can come to my house," Mr. Jack offered.

"Don't worry, sir; I'll use my own money for transport," Angelina insisted.

"No, let me take care of it. You'll receive an alert soon," he said.

"Okay, sir. Where do you live?" Angelina asked.

Mr. Jack described his location.

"Alright, sir. When should I come?" she asked.

"Come at 6 PM."

They ended the call, and Angelina soon received a notification for a 2,000 Naira transaction in her Opay account.

At 6 PM, Angelina went to Mr. Jack's home and found him watching a movie in the sitting room.

"Good evening, sir," she greeted him.

"Evening. How are you?" he replied.

"Fine, sir."

"How are your parents?"

"They're fine, sir."

"Have a seat," he said, gesturing to the three-seater sofa beside him. "I would like to know more about you. Can you tell me more about yourself?"

"There's not much to tell. I'm an apprentice learning tailoring on our street. I finished secondary school two years ago," Angelina shared.

"Who do you live with?" Mr. Jack asked.

"I live with my parents," she replied.

"Okay, good. Wait here for a moment." Mr. Jack went into his room and returned with a gift.

"Take this gift. When the month ends, I will take you out for shopping."

"Thank you so much, sir. I'm truly grateful," Angelina said, beaming with excitement.

"You're welcome. Have you eaten?" Mr. Jack asked.

"Yes, sir."

"What did you eat?"

"I ate rice before coming."

"Which film would you like to watch?"

"A Chinese film," Angelina replied. Mr. Jack took the remote, changed the channel to a Chinese film, and they began watching together.

Mr. Jack kept his promise and took Angelina out for shopping at the end of the month.

He even encouraged her to buy something for her mother. Excited after their shopping trip, Angelina returned home and showed her mother all the items Mr. Jack had bought for them.

Her mother was amazed to see the expensive items.

"Wow! How long have you known this man who bought these things for you and me?" her mother asked.
