Valeria, Elsa, Bucky, and Aiden sat around a circular table, the air heavy with unspoken tension. Aiden leaned forward, resting his arms on the table.
"So… what exactly are we waiting for?" he asked.
Valeria let out a sigh, rubbing her temples. "An important member of our team."
Bucky merely sighed, his face unreadable. Elsa scoffed and crossed her arms, shaking her head.
Aiden immediately picked up on their reactions. Whoever they were waiting for wasn't exactly well-liked. And sure enough, his suspicions were confirmed when the stench of alcohol reached his nose, followed by the sluggish footsteps of a man who looked like he had given up long ago.
His disheveled uniform—a red and blue suit with a golden star at its center—was stained and unkempt. But Aiden didn't need to look too closely to know that the symbol on his chest was long dead.
Valeria sighed again before gesturing toward the man. "Aiden Blake, this is Carl Danvers. Captain Marvel. The strongest hero in our team."
Aiden barely had time to process the introduction before Carl let out a dry chuckle.
"This kid?" Carl scoffed, his voice slurred but filled with derision. "You look like a damn wimp."
Aiden blinked slowly, then turned to Valeria. "Seriously?"
Carl grinned, leaning against the table. "I hear you think you can beat Thor? That's funny. Real funny. You'll get your ass handed to you just like the last idiot we brought here, Valeria."
At his words, Valeria visibly flinched, lowering her head in shame.
Aiden narrowed his eyes. "Last man?"
Elsa spoke up before Valeria could. "It's not like we were hiding it from you. We've fought Thor many times. And every time, people died."
Carl, however, laughed bitterly. "We brought The Sentry—a man stronger than steel! A guy who could go toe-to-toe with Thor! And guess what?" He sneered at Valeria, pointing at her accusingly.
"That bitch right there said he was our best shot! Said he could turn the tide! And yet, that exact same man got cut in half by the goddamn Necrosword!"
Valeria clenched her fists, her jaw tightening, but Carl wasn't done.
"There is no one stronger than Thor! No matter how much you plan, no matter what we do—it's over!" His voice rose, his bitterness turning into rage.
"He has killed half a billion people in a DAY! Wiped out the Avengers! The X-Men! The Eternals! And your goddamn parents, Valeria! For a reason!"
Before he could continue, Aiden's fist collided with his face.
The force of the punch sent Carl flying across the room, crashing through the wall and into the next, breaking several more before his body finally stopped.
Silence.
Aiden dusted off his knuckles before glancing at Valeria. "Apologies. I took offense on your behalf." Then, turning to Elsa, he asked, "Do you have a sturdy training room? Somewhere I can humble that man without destroying your entire base?"
Elsa, still wide-eyed from the sudden impact, could only stare. Even Bucky looked surprised.
Valeria, however, snapped out of her shock and stood up. "You shouldn't have done that! Captain Marvel is strong—powerful! He could seriously hurt you!"
A blur of red and blue rushed toward Aiden at incredible speed, Carl's body moving like a missile—
—but before he could land a hit, two draconic horns erupted from Aiden's head, his body shifting as two wings spread out from his back.
With a single punch, Aiden stopped Carl's charge mid-air, slamming him straight down into the ground with a force that sent cracks through the floor.
Aiden exhaled, staring down at the man before lifting him up effortlessly.
"In my world," he said, his voice calm but sharp, "Captain Marvel was a woman. Carol Danvers."
His draconic eyes glowed slightly as he smirked.
"And even she had more balls than you."
He then turned to Elsa, who was still processing what had just happened. When she finally registered his expectant look, she simply nodded and pointed in a direction.
Aiden grinned. "Good."
Without another word, he hurled Carl in that direction, then flapped his wings, launching himself after him.
....
Aiden stepped into the training room, its vast white walls reinforced with unknown technology. The air was sterile, the silence thick with anticipation. His sharp eyes scanned the space, assessing its durability. This should hold up… at least for a while.
The sound of crackling energy pulled his attention back to Carl, whose once sluggish demeanor had vanished. Now, his body radiated with golden power, his eyes burning with a reddish hue. The alcohol-induced haze was gone, replaced by raw aggression.
"You little shit," Carl spat, his voice carrying a dangerous edge. "You have no idea what you've done. Waking me up from a good drunk? You're dead."
Before Aiden could respond, Carl became a blur of light, moving faster than before. Aiden barely had time to react as a charged fist slammed into his ribs, launching him backward. The impact sent shockwaves through the facility.
Carl didn't relent. He was on Aiden in an instant, driving him through the air with a barrage of rapid-fire punches. Aiden countered, his fists colliding with Carl's, their blows shaking the very room. Sparks flew, heat rose, and the sheer force of their fight cracked the reinforced floor beneath them.
"Thor is a monster, kid!" Carl roared. "You think you can beat him? I'll show you what kind of power you're up against!"
Aiden's eyes narrowed as he inhaled deeply—then unleashed a torrent of fire from his mouth, a brilliant inferno aimed directly at Carl. But Captain Marvel barely flinched. He tore through the flames like they were nothing, his fists glowing as he retaliated with an explosive energy blast that sent Aiden careening into the ground below.
The dust settled for only a moment before Carl landed atop him, fists raised.
From the observation room, Valeria turned away, unable to watch.
Bucky sighed. "Kid put up a fight, but this is over."
Elsa, however, didn't look convinced. She stared at the screen, watching Aiden's movements carefully. "No... he's not done yet."
Valeria looked up, confused.
"Back when he took down Brunhilde," Elsa continued, "he used more than one element. But here? He's only used fire."
Valeria's eyes widened as realization struck. "You're right…"
Inside the crater, Carl loomed over Aiden, raining down brutal punches. Each strike sent tremors through the room. "Know. Your. Place!" he shouted with every blow.
Then, amidst the dust and destruction, Aiden's voice cut through the chaos.
"…That's it?"
Carl's fist froze mid-air, eyes widening in shock.
From the rubble, a iron arm shot out, slamming into Carl's jaw with bone-shattering force. The impact sent him flying. Before he could recover, a bolt of yellow lightning laser him midair, frying his nerves and locking his muscles. As he struggled, something shifted in his peripheral vision—Aiden, stepping out of his very own shadow, hand glowing with pure, divine light.
"Holy Light"
Carl barely had time to process what was happening before Aiden struck, the holy energy blasting him across the room. He crashed into the ground, but his momentum was stopped abruptly as a massive rock pillar erupted from the floor, halting his flight.
Aiden stepped forward, his right arm glowing with intense red heat. Flames danced along his skin, wild and untamed. His draconic horns gleamed, his wings unfurled, and his presence became overwhelming.
"Fire Dragon King Mode," Aiden announced, his voice carrying the weight of absolute dominance.
Carl groaned, trying to push himself up, but Aiden was already in front of him. The younger warrior's flames intensified, the sheer heat warping the air.
"If you couldn't beat Thor," Aiden said coldly, "then you're not even worth me going all out."
With that, he launched forward, his fist crashing into Carl's chest. The Fire Dragon King's Punch detonated on impact, a seismic explosion of flames and power rocking the entire facility. Alarms blared. Walls cracked. The ground quaked as if the earth itself had split apart.
When the fire settled, Carl lay unconscious in a smoking crater, his suit in tatters, his body twitching from the lingering energy. He was alive—only because Aiden had chosen to spare him.
Slowly, Aiden turned toward the cameras, knowing full well that Valeria and Elsa were watching. His flames dimmed, his body shifting once more. A radiant white crown of energy glowed above his head. Two wings of wind sprouted from his back, their ethereal feathers shifting with each breath. A swirling armor of water cascaded over his form, his once-dark hair turning stark white, his glowing azure eyes filled with unyielding resolve.
"I will kill Thor," Aiden declared. His voice carried through the room, through the facility, through the hearts of those who listened.
"For the first time in a long time..." Valeria whispered, staring at the screen with wide, hopeful eyes. "Maybe… we actually have a chance."
