Ein was a hitman for hire—a shadow in the night, a death with insomnia, if you will.
He had spent a lifetime turning away from care and affection, ignoring the deep-down ache to be held gently just once. To love without fearing it might crash. To live daring to hope for better days.
But having fought through everything bitter, survived up until this point, what was the point? There was nothing sweet for a killer. His life had no value, not even enough to try and end it himself.
Even as Ein moved into his thirties, he was all but simply moving towards the inevitable end—just like the ends he’d caused.
Ein had watched the life drain from dozens. Seeing a soul popping out of a dead body was a first.
And it wasn't just any soul—it had to be an irritatingly loud ghost, impossible to get rid of, and even harder to hate.

Adriel wasn’t one to let things go easily. He’d lived running from himself, bending backwards to keep things calm and people satisfied. But they never were.
Going to bed, he’d often glance at the starry sky and wish to vanish from society. To turn invisible to judgmental pricks. To get a chance to act unapologetically himself, not fearing rejection.
All Adriel wanted was someone who could love him without any conditions, tolerate him no matter how ridiculous he was, stay by him even when his light was dim.
But what he got was a sudden death in a grimy alleyway. How could it be? Dying! Without any warning! Before he could find love! What a waste!
Outraged by such a cruel turn of events, Adriel clawed at the reality, demanding life take him back. He would do anything to live again, fix his life and get a happy ending. Even if it meant pestering a grumpy hitman with manners as dry as the Sahara desert.

Disclaimer: This story is a very slow burn (possibly even emotional torture level >:D). So buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Hello, fellow souls! We're 30 chapters in, so I thought it'd be the perfect time to give this story a 5-star review (yes, I'm doing it myself, don't judge :D) and share the backstory of how When a Hitman Gets Haunted by a Ghost came to life! It all started one stressful day, when I was scrolling through my notes of ideas, trying to convince myself that I'm not that bad of a writer (haha, the self-doubt moments hit hard). I was looking for something fun, not too serious, just to take my mind off the negative. That’s when I stumbled upon a name from a dream I had weeks before: Ein Kinning. Now, I've never had any ideas come to me in dreams before--it was a miracle. All I had was that name and a vague idea about "killers for hire." The rest of the dream? Gone. Poof. Adios. But I made the note anyway. I even still have it on my phone: [14 May 2024 at 7:48 AM — Ein Kinning] I zoned out staring at that note, and distantly thought "what if a killer saw the souls of people he killed, but make it a comedy?" At first, I didn't plan to publish it. I wrote the first two chapters for stress relief. But when I told my mom this idea for fun, she thought it was a movie and asked, "When can I watch it?" That's when I decided to flesh it out and write Ein and Adriel's story properly. And now we're here! This is getting a bit long... For better or for worse, the writer in me never shuts up. :D Speaking of writing--this story has been such a joy, my little treasure. I've giggled, laughed out loud, slapped the table, and even teared up a few times. My whole soul (pun intended) is in this work, and I hope that comes through when you're reading. So to everyone who gave this supernatural, darkly humorous and slightly sarcastic story a chance, thank you! Your support means the world to me, and I hope you've laughed as much as I have along the way. Let's keep growing together—older, wiser, and perhaps a little bit funnier! ❣️ Take care and stay peachy, Buyong
