'Theoretically, aren't sunlight and nuclear radiation the same thing? Why can Superman absorb the power of the sun but not the power of a nuclear explosion?' Shin pondered as he transformed into a bolt of lightning, soaring rapidly into the sky. He welcomed the incoming nuclear weapons.
Now that Doomsday had gained the ability to fly, there was at least one advantage—air combat significantly expanded the battlefield, reducing the destructive aftermath compared to ground combat.
Shin, moving like a streak of light, swiftly arrived at the coordinates he had detected using his Haki. As he spotted the swarm of nuclear missiles approaching, he darted across the sky, teleporting between them like a flickering spark. In an instant, he absorbed them into the dark dimension.
He wasn't entirely sure whether the dark dimension could withstand nuclear explosions, but that wasn't necessary. The moment the nuclear warheads entered, Shin's Munch-Munch Fruit ability quickly dismantled them into nothing more than a pile of harmless components.
Nuclear bombs weren't like conventional explosives; they were intricately designed, requiring precise conditions to detonate. A simple impact or fire wouldn't set them off.
Turning his gaze downward, Shin observed the battle raging in the sky. Suddenly, a deafening explosion rocked the earth. The sheer force sent tremors rippling through the land, triggering seismic waves akin to a magnitude seven or eight earthquake.
Superman and Doomsday were locked in a vicious struggle. At that moment, Superman's eyes flared red, releasing his heat vision directly into Doomsday's skull.
Howling in agony, Doomsday retaliated with relentless punches to Superman's abdomen. However, Superman gritted his teeth and clamped down on his opponent's shoulders, refusing to be thrown away while continuing to blast him with heat vision.
Wonder Woman, who had been rushing toward the battlefield, abruptly halted. She knew that kryptonite had a devastating effect on both combatants and if she got too close, Superman's heat vision might weaken or even fail to activate.
For half a minute, Superman poured his energy into the attack. Finally, the concentrated beam punched clean through Doomsday's head, continuing downward and carving a massive hole into the earth's surface. Shin could even see magma erupting from the wound in the ground.
'Man, the pressure on this world's earth must be insane,' Shin mused. 'If Superman ever went completely berserk, he could probably punch straight through the planet.'
'This must be part of the movie universe—at best, a parallel version of it. If it were the comic universe, no wonder they keep having to reboot it.'
'Dozens of walking Star Destroyers throwing punches and lasers around, gathering for battles every year—it's a miracle this planet still exists.'
As Shin contemplated, he suddenly noticed Superman stagger and cough up blood. Half of his head was blown off, yet Doomsday—whose brain had been obliterated by the heat vision—was still standing. He remained frozen for only a moment before being flung aside, gasping for breath.
"Wonder Woman," Shin called out. "Give Doomsday a few more slashes. That thing has insane vitality."
Wonder Woman hesitated. "It's not a good habit to mutilate an enemy's corpse."
"This isn't corpse mutilation," Shin explained. "Doomsday is absurdly tough. Without kryptonite, he's nearly impossible to kill."
That was just the portrayal in movies and TV shows. In comics or animation, Doomsday was straight-up immortal. Neither kryptonite nor decapitation could stop him.
Unless he was obliterated at the cellular level, even a single remaining cell could regenerate him—stronger than before and immune to the last method that killed him.
This guy had even survived Omega Beams, which operated at the level of fundamental laws of the universe.
Hearing this, Wonder Woman was still skeptical but decided to follow Shin's advice. Just as she prepared to strike—
A monstrous roar erupted.
"Watch out!" Shin's expression changed drastically. He had sensed Doomsday's life force gradually diminishing just moments ago. Now, however, it had surged back—far stronger than before.
He had expected Doomsday's resurrection to take time. Who would have thought it would be nearly instantaneous?
Although Shin's warning was swift, it was still too late.
Doomsday's heat vision flared, and two searing beams slashed through the battlefield. Wonder Woman screamed in pain as the devastating energy sliced through her waist, cutting her in half. Her kryptonite spear was incinerated in an instant.
Shin reacted immediately. Even as he shouted his warning, he had already activated his logia state. Doomsday's heat vision swept past him harmlessly, but Superman wasn't as lucky—he was sent flying from the impact.
Completely ignoring Shin, Doomsday lunged after Superman, as if the former was beneath his notice.
Breathing a sigh of relief, Shin rushed toward Wonder Woman.
Her condition was critical—not only had her body been bisected, but her arm had been severed as well. Worse, portions of her body had been completely vaporized by the intense heat.
Fortunately, she hadn't been decapitated. As a demigod with incredible vitality, she was still alive and conscious despite her grievous injuries.
A wave of black mist engulfed her, absorbing her into the dark dimension. Moments later, she emerged fully healed—but her face was pale.
"Thank you," Wonder Woman murmured weakly. "That power of yours is truly miraculous—on par with the healing in Olympus itself."
Because large portions of her body had been completely erased, Shin had been forced to regenerate her missing parts from scratch. As a demigod, her cellular structure was vastly different from that of normal humans, making the process more complex. This unexpected cellular overgrowth had drained her vitality, leaving her significantly weakened.
Even if she hadn't been physically drained, her role in this battle was over. The kryptonite spear—the only weapon capable of truly harming Doomsday—had been reduced to molten slag. If it had merely been broken, Shin could have repaired it, but now that it had been vaporized, even the Munch-Munch Fruit couldn't restore it.
Boom!
Another thunderous impact shook the battlefield. The earth trembled as massive shockwaves rippled outward.
Shin turned just in time to see Doomsday pinning Superman to the ground, his own heat vision blasting straight into the Kryptonian's face.
"That thing evolves so fast—it can already use heat vision?"
Superman, refusing to go down without a fight, fired his own heat vision in retaliation. But as Shin watched, he noticed something troubling—the meeting point of the two beams was steadily shifting.
Doomsday's attack was overwhelming Superman's.
Unlike Doomsday, who could revive from anything, Superman had no such luxury. If his heat vision lost this clash, it would be the end of him.
