Chapter 133: Mutation

Although the number of Tentacruel in the second wave of attacks had decreased, their coordination and overall strength had significantly improved, making the battle even more intense. Some Trainers' Pokémon had already been defeated and were unable to continue fighting.

"How did they become so strong all of a sudden...?"

A Trainer wiped the sweat from his forehead, his eyes fixed on the battlefield.

He had never witnessed such an enormous battle before. Thousands of Pokémon clashed against each other, creating a chaotic yet mesmerizing scene. The sheer scale of the fight was overwhelming—it was unlike anything he had ever imagined.

"This is what I mentioned earlier. Strength increases with coordination," an Alliance officer standing beside him explained in a composed manner.

Though it was the officer's first time experiencing a battle of this magnitude, he had studied similar situations during his training at the Alliance headquarters. He had seen archival footage of battles fought a hundred years ago, but none of them compared to the intensity of witnessing one unfold right before his eyes.

Having spent years patrolling outside the safety of cities, he had seen things that ordinary Trainers couldn't even begin to imagine. People often took peaceful routes for granted, unaware of the ongoing efforts that maintained this balance.

In the wild, unseen by most, battles were even more brutal than this one. There were places where wild Pokémon reached unfathomable levels of power—strong enough to rival even the most skilled Pokémon League Champions.

One such place was Cerulean Cave, located near Cerulean City. The Pokémon within that cave were monstrously strong, and if they ever decided to leave and attack the city, Cerulean would be reduced to ruins in a matter of hours.

The war between humans and Tentacruel raged on. More and more Pokémon lost their ability to fight—both human-trained Pokémon and Tentacool from the wild. The sea was littered with unconscious Pokémon, their bodies floating on the surface.

None were dead. Pokémon rarely fought to kill unless survival was at stake. Even in the heat of battle, they retained a sense of restraint.

After all, if deaths occurred, the Legendary Pokémon watching over the world would not remain indifferent.

"Stinger—!"

The leader of the Tentacruel, witnessing his forces thinning, felt a deep sense of urgency. His plan had been simple—overwhelm the humans through sheer numbers—but now, it was clear that wasn't enough.

His forces were dwindling, and the Trainers and their Pokémon were holding strong. He needed a new approach.

"If I can't make the humans feel the pain of losing their home..."

His gaze shifted toward the construction site in the distance—a semi-finished hotel built on top of what was once their home.

"...Then I'll destroy what they built on our land!"

With renewed determination, the Tentacruel leader issued a command.

"Stinger!"

A group of elite Tentacool and Tentacruel acknowledged the order and immediately broke away from the battlefield. They surged toward the coral reefs where the hotel was under construction.

Leading this detachment was a particularly strong Tentacool, whose power had already reached the level of an elite Pokémon. Among the group, he was the most powerful, second only to the Tentacruel leader himself.

Watching them leave, the Tentacruel leader turned back toward the battlefield. His eyes burned with fury. He could no longer simply command from the rear—he needed to join the fight himself.

The battle had already been evenly matched, but when the Tentacruel leader and his personal guards entered the fray, the balance began to shift in their favor.

Unfortunately for the humans, the Tentacruel chose to attack the left flank—where Ash's team was positioned!

"Their leader has joined the battle! A4 front requesting immediate backup!"

The Alliance fighter overseeing that section of the battlefield quickly identified the Tentacruel as the enemy leader. Without hesitation, he called for reinforcements.

Officer Jenny received the distress call and wasted no time dispatching three teams of police officers, a total of nine additional trainers, to assist in the battle.

The Tentacruel leader and his guards were far stronger than the average Tentacool, and their attacks were overwhelming. Standard Pokémon defenses could not hold up against their relentless assault. In less than a minute, seven Pokémon on the human side had been knocked out!

"Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"

Ash had been closely observing the Tentacruel leader. Realizing that normal tactics wouldn't work, he decided to rely on Pikachu's electric attacks, instructing his other Pokémon to continue fighting the main Tentacruel force.

"Pika—CHUUUUU!"

Despite his exhaustion, Pikachu mustered his strength and unleashed a devastating Thunderbolt toward the Tentacruel leader.

Seeing the incoming attack, one of the Tentacruel guards reacted instantly, throwing himself in front of the leader. The Thunderbolt struck him directly, and he collapsed immediately, unconscious.

The Tentacruel leader's expression darkened. His fear of Pikachu grew—this little Pokémon had just defeated one of his strongest warriors with a single attack.

"This Pikachu... is dangerous."

From afar, the Alliance fighter watching the battle was stunned. He had already taken note of Ash's Pokémon, but Pikachu's performance was exceptional.

"That Pikachu is incredible…" he muttered.

Even though Electric-type moves had an advantage against Water-types, it was still extremely rare for one attack to take out a Pokémon of equal level. That level of power was extraordinary.

Ash pressed his advantage, commanding Pikachu to keep targeting the Tentacruel leader. Though the leader had several guards protecting him, Pikachu's attacks gradually weakened their ranks.

Meanwhile, the nine police officers arrived with their Pokémon, reinforcing Ash's position and slowing the enemy advance.

For the first time in the battle, the Tentacruel army was beginning to lose ground.

Then—

BOOM!

A thunderous explosion echoed across the sea.

Everyone turned toward the source of the sound.

Ten figures—shrouded in a blinding white light—began to change shape.

Their bodies expanded at an alarming rate.

"What… what's happening!?"

A Trainer, frozen in shock, fell to the ground, unable to comprehend the sight before him.

The figures, originally Tentacool, had begun to evolve simultaneously into Tentacruel.

But these weren't ordinary Tentacruel.

They kept growing, expanding, mutating beyond their natural size.

When the blinding light finally faded, what remained was a monstrous Tentacruel, unlike anything seen before.

It stood over 100 meters tall, towering above the battlefield like a prehistoric leviathan.

Its very presence disrupted the sea, sending massive waves crashing into the coast. The force was so intense that it felt like a tsunami was about to hit Yumachi Wharf—and possibly all of Rampur.

The battle had just taken a terrifying turn.
