Lin Xuanyu approached the man and the instant he got close, the guy recognizes him.
The man's body immediately tensed up and a look of wariness appeared on his face
Why is this guy here? Does he know anything about me? Countless thoughts ran in Leon, the transmigrators mind. He has never seen me before, why is he looking for me?
Seeing this, Lin Xuanyu let out a soft chuckle and shook his head, a helpless smile playing on his lips. "No need to be so alert. I'm not your enemy. How about you follow me to a cafe? we'll chat there while drinking some coffee."
The man's wariness didn't fade.
His expression alone made it clear that he didn't trust him "And why should I trust your worldds and follow you?"
Lin Xuanyu sighed, his smile fading into a more serious expression. "Either you follow me, or we'll have to do this the hard way. And trust me,"
His voice lowered, carrying an unmistakable coldness, "when I say the hard way, it's going to be bad."
Leon, shivered when he heard Lin Xuanyu's words.
His mind raced as he recalled the scene in the nest—he remembered how easily he took down the seed monster.
Leon himself was only at the the Transition realm.
He had no chance against someone who could handle a threat like that.
Gritting his teeth, he nodded reluctantly. "Fine, I'll follow."
With Leon's agreement, the two made their way into another nearby café. The bustling station was packed with people, but this café offered a quieter, more secluded spot. They quickly found an empty table in the corner and sat down. Lin Xuanyu leaned back in his chair, studying Leon's nervous demeanor.
"Well then, Mr. Knows-the-Future," Lin Xuanyu began with a slight smirk. "Let me officially introduce myself. I am Lin Xuanyu—the very same one who supposedly died a week ago."
Leon froze, his face paling as his gaze locked onto Lin Xuanyu's smiling face.
Leon's body stiffened, his muscles tensing up in panic. He was just about to stand up and shout at Lin Xuanyu, but the instant he moved, a chilling sensation brushed against his neck.
Lin Xuanyu let out a tired sigh, his hand resting on the table as if he hadn't moved an inch. "Why are you so jumpy? Can we not have this discussion peacefully? Or are you trying to draw every eye in this crowded station to us?"
Leon swallowed hard, his mind racing. He forced himself to stay calm. "You... What exactly are you? Don't tell me you're a transmigrator like me?"
Lin Xuanyu raised an eyebrow, his lips curling into a faint smirk. "Me? A transmigrator? Maybe, who knows"
He replied, his tone carrying a faint trace of amusement. "But one thing is for sure, I'm not like you—a man who somehow knows the future of this world. I'm just a lucky fellow who hit the jackpot and came back to life."
Leon's brow furrowed. "Came back to life? What does that even mean?"
Lin Xuanyu leaned forward slightly, "As for what that means... I'll leave it to your imagination. Just know this: I'm not your enemy. If I was, we wouldn't be sitting here having this little chat."
"And before you go spouting nonsense about me being your enemy, just know that I have enough strength to kill you right here and now if I wanted to. After all—"
His gaze sharpened, and a faint smirk formed on his face. "I am the young master of the Lin Clan. I highly doubt anyone here would dare make trouble for me."
He was right, if he really was his enemy then he would've already killed him.
This guy could crush him in an instant, and with the Lin Clan backing him, no one would even bat an eye. Even if I screamed, who here would dare step in?
Then it means the guy in front of him wasn't the author or someone who works for him.
Besides he has been moving very low-key and was cautious of his actions.
He had promised himself that he will only make drastic changes once he got into Seven Hearts Academy. So It would not make sense for the author to find his existence.
Leon's eyes narrowed as he studied Lin Xuanyu. "I will believe you for now," he said sighing. "But I want to know—how are you still alive? You're supposed to be dead, betrayed by your own brother."
Lin Xuanyu shrugged casually, spreading his hands. "Like I said, I hit the jackpot and got revived. Pretty simple, isn't it? And now, I'm tasked with protecting you because your life is in danger."
His tone was casual, he definitely didn't look like the guy who just threatened leon a minute ago.
"Protecting me?" Leon repeated, his frown deepening. "From what exactly?"
Lin Xuanyu leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on the table. "From the author from your world and others like him—people trying to disrupt the balance of this world and destroy it."
"Now you know i'm not here to kill you. My task is to protect you."
Well, that wasn't really his task but in a way it still held some truth.
Lin Xuanyu wasn't about to reveal his task just yet.
For now, getting information about the so-called "plot" from this guy was far more important.
Leon exhaled deeply, running a hand through his hair. "This is… too much information to process. Let me calm down for a second."
Lin Xuanyu nodded, signaling the waiter.
"Take your time." He ordered two drinks, and they sat in relative silence.
When Leon finally picked up his drink, took a sip, and set it back down, his expression was more composed.
He looked up at Lin Xuanyu with a faint grimace. "Alright… I believe you now. Everything that's happened so far feels like a fever dream anyway. One moment, I was walking down the street near my house, and the next, a truck comes out of nowhere, and bam—I'm here with a system.
Lin Xuanyu's eyebrow rose in genuine curiosity. "Oh? A system, huh?"
Leon nodded cautiously. "Yeah, but don't think I'm going to tell you what it does. I know you're holding things back, so I'll do the same."
"Fair," Lin Xuanyu replied with an indifferent shrug. Internally, though, he smirked. I don't need you to tell me. I already know.
Tt-ting!
