In a world where survival is dictated by The Veil, an ancient force that selects unwilling souls for its brutal trials, death is often a mercy. Those who fail are erased. Those who endure return changed—feared, hunted, and burdened with power.
Hope was never meant to be among them. A scavenger scraping by in the lawless outskirts, he lived by one rule: stay unnoticed, stay alive. He had no grand ambitions, no thirst for strength—only the will to see another day. But when The Veil marks him, he is cast into The Ashlands, a realm where nightmares take form, and survival means facing horrors beyond comprehension.
Armed with nothing but his cunning, Hope fights to stay alive. He has no allies, no faith in heroics—only desperation. But when he survives his first trial, he is granted something far more dangerous than mere strength—the power of the God of Darkness. A force that does not only obey him, but watches, whispers, and waits.
Ok…. I’m getting the scenery of shadow slave, the novel has a lot of promising plots and features
Waow... Getting better, and better author should work more on the world building..... Although the major character lack enough depth I believe with time it will get better
just 10 chapters in but feels like a SS rip off. well not a rip off, more like a SS heavily inspired story.
Wouldn’t recommend. MC lacks depth and world building is close to non-existent. MC gets thrown into action fairly quickly and the readers are stuck wondering what’s what and how it happened. What’s the Veil? What’s the Ashlands ? Why’d he get infected ? Since when was that a thing ? What happens to their original bodies?Other than being an outskirt rat what’s his background? How is life like for everyone since the veil appeared ? Nothing gets an explanation. You have to accept it as is and move on lol. Made it to chapter 15 and I was being generous.
