Synopsis

When an alien ambassador crash-lands in Tim's backyard and demands, 'Take me to your leader,' the 12-year-old does what any kid would do: he points to himself and says, 'That’s me. I’m the King of Earth.'

Now, thanks to a hastily signed treaty (and a promise to hand over Jupiter), Tim’s got an armory of world-ending alien tech, an invulnerable Planetary Base in his backyard treehouse, and one tiny problem: nobody told him ruling a planet would be this hard. Between conquering Earth, fending off hostile fleets, outsmarting intergalactic bureaucrats, and explaining his absences to his Trekkie dad, Tim’s in way over his head. But if he can’t bluff his way through alien diplomacy fast, humanity might end up as collateral damage.

"King of All I Survey" is a fun, heart-pounding sci-fi adventure where one kid’s lie decides the fate of Earth—and homework is nothing compared to intergalactic war.

So I’m going to be honest I’m probably not qualified to judge the writing. Or the story’s quality for that matter. I’m a student and my first language isn’t English. What I can say is that this is the best story i’ve seen on this site, and If you click on my profile you’ll see that I’ve been searching. I like the concept for the story, and the world building is better than probably any other book I’ve read here. Though i’m not confident about that quite yet. If you’re bored of reading wish fulfillment, you could give this a try. It has a lot if simultarities, but it mixes in some existential dread. And the world building leaves a lot of room to speculate, making it appear more realistic. I’m not entirely happy about the main character. He doesn’t quite act his age. Or something feels a bit off. Though thinking now I can’t quite figure out what it is. Anyways this is the first review I’ve written, and it’s because I truly think a lot of people on this site would enjoy the book. I haven’t read far yet (chapter 14), but it seems really promising.

superb writing, complexity in so many areas. There are diverse perspectives, generational, cultural, and the first person thinking of the protagonist all makes sense and brings the reader closer.

I'm really enjoying this original story and interested to see where this takes me. I appreciate the fantasy of an 8 year old's imagination and the contrast with how this eventually leads to an apocalyptic scenario has me coming back for more.
