Chapter 5. Shadow

Only a few moments had passed since the glow started and the earth started shaking. The building outside the temple all collapsed and the temple started shaking uncontrollably. Taiji jumped up to his feet hurriedly grabbing his sword. Tony on the other hand stood completely still. Taiji did not know what he was doing, but he didn't ask. He was listening, watching for any signs of movement. The darkness around him giving eerie vibes. He could sense something wasn't right but he couldn't quite figure out what. Shivers went down his spine despite nothing being there. Tired of the silence he finally asked quickly, but calmly:

"What is happening. How can you just stand there still. Don't you sense anything."

Right as he finished that sentence a shadowy figure leapt from the depths of the shadows nobody knew were even there. The strike of his sword was swift, Taiji completely unaware it was coming. But Tony was ready. He already foresaw it using his powers. It took a toll on him moving so fast, but he didn't have a choice, Taiji was going to be cut in half if he didn't do something. He tackled Taiji right as the sword was going to reach his neck. It narrowly missed it, but he didn't get untouched.

When they landed, Taiji could taste the blood. His cheek was burning. Blood streaking from his cheek right next to his lip. He couldn't speak, he couldn't move. The overwhelming power he felt from his opponent completely paralyzed him. Tony shook his shoulder.

"Come on, we have to fight. Otherwise we are dead. He is one of the commanders and we don't stand a chance if we don't work together"

Taiji took a moment to register his words. Realizing he was right he slowly got up. Their opponent didn't move. He just stood there, watching. Tony grabbed his sword and leapt. His sword falling to where the opponents head should be. But it wasn't there. The sword didn't hit anything. He immediately went into a blocking stance. And right as he did a sword came from the shadows. He barely managed to block it due to the sheer speed of the strike. Its power sent him back flying. The pillars and walls collapsing as he flew. As he hit the wall of the cave where the temple was situated, he collapsed. Unconscious. Taiji stood there thinking about his next move. Before he could decide he was hit in the back. He flew into the same wall as Toby.

His head was bleeding. He knew it from the warm feeling of blood flowing down his forehead. His consciousness was slipping. Before he blacked out, he heard a voice. A soft voice. From a woman. It told him, or rather whispered:

"Leave it to us, rest now"
