Kael, a teenager from the modern world, dies alone in a hospital bed, his final regret the inability to see the sun. He awakens not into an afterlife, but a shocking rebirth – as an infant in a magic-rich fantasy world. Trapped within a tiny, helpless body, Kael grapples with the surreal reality of his adult mind trying to comprehend a new life from scratch. His attempts to communicate are met only with infant cries, deepening his frustration.

Adding to the upheaval, Kael's new parents, Elara and Roric, are immediately struck by his appearance. He bears no resemblance to either of them or their distinct clan features, possessing instead a striking head of jet-black hair and eyes like deepest midnight.
