Synopsis

FACE is a return-to-the-past mystery with cultivation-action, magic, and a focus on spirit herbs. May contain phycological elements because the eldritch horrors believe the MC's mind is delicious, and the whole world mistakes him for someone else.

**MC's synopsis:**

I united the continent of Auster only to be betrayed by my sworn brother. Time froze Castle Everest with my body trapped inside, and an eldritch horror arrived to devour me. Luckily, my soul escaped and took possession of a young boy. Who is this boy? Why does everyone want to kill or capture him? Worst of all, this body is so useless. At least, I've gained supernatural senses… Wait! Too much! Is this a blessing or a curse? Am I going crazy?

It's a shameless tradition on this site to rate your own novel with 5 stars. I'm finally giving in and following this tradition. Let's see... I promise no harems and there will be an ending. I'm good at editing so quality should be great.

Note: I give 5/5 on everything despite whatever I write below. I've had this on my reading list and finally got to it. It's rare for me to come across a story engaging enough where I binge read it in one go, but I'm happy to say this story is one of them. Writing Quality 5/5: You'll be very hard pressed to find any story on this site that can compare to the grammar and quality of this story's writing. Updates 2.5/5: updates appear to be somewhat random and infrequent. Considering the books quality though, I find this acceptable. Especially as it seems the author is writing for his own enjoyment (from what I could tell). Story Development 5/5: The story is super engaging with mixes of mystery and action. Very enjoyable and original. Character design 4/5: Most characters are interesting and well designed. Minus one point for the MC, who I feel doesn't actually have much of a personality. If I was asked to describe the MC's personality, I can't think of how. Basically, he has no real personality defining traits, though he is consistent in how he acts. World Background 4/5: Let me start by saying the world is described very well and vividly. Scenes we're very detailed in my head while reading. It's a pretty standard cultivation world though. Minus a point for many things just sort of existing with the MC being aware of what it is and the reader only having an inkling of an idea of what it is. This doesn't really hurt the story as it allows it to keep fast pacing. Also, it's kind of expected when considering MC is a super expert in his past life. However, I don't think this novel would be a good starter for someone completely new to the cultivation genre. As for cultivation veterans? You'll probably understand everything fine. On a final and somewhat unrelated note, I'd like to thank Nitro for helping me improve my own writing drastically when I was just starting out. After reading this story, I can see that I still have a lot of room for improvement before catching up to Nitro in terms of quality. I highly recommend reading this book to anyone reading this review =p.
