Dean Dapper leads two lives. By day, he’s your average teenager enduring the hustle and bustle of everyday life in the mundane human world. By night, however, he’s the reluctant commander of the Foolhardies, a group of troublemakers fighting in a war of succession that’s been ongoing for nearly five hundred years!
A Fifteen-year-old battling mythical fairy-tale beings may sound foolhardy, but Dean isn’t in this for himself. His younger brother Luca faces a life of slavery in the fairy realm, and only Dean’s fight to become the clan hero might rescue Luca from his grim fate. Luckily, Dean finds a valuable ally in Aurana, a princess of the clan with her own political ambitions of her family claiming the empty throne.
Strategic battles, magic sword fights, the underbelly of fairy politics, and raging teen hormones—it’s all in a night’s work for Dean, Luca, Aurana, and the rest of the Foolhardies.
[UPDATE] Pausing on daily chapter releases this June 2020 on account of spending part of my writing time editing the work from the beginning. Please expect even better prose and tighter pacing from chapters 1 to 220 soon. It all starts with 1. After I'm done with that, daily chapters will resume. But don't worry, chapters will still come out weekly. It just won't be daily for now.
RELEASE SCHEDULE: 1 chapter daily at 10-11 PM Hong Kong time.

Hello, fellow viseres! I'm G.D. Cruz, freshman web author and enthusiastic scribe for the denizens of the Feyne, the realm of fairies. Shameless self-plugging aside, I hope you enjoy this story, the relatable characters you're about to meet, their adventure, and the world we're building together. As I'm a huge dork for high fantasy and YA stories, I wanted to build a world with both elements at the forefront, and as I'm planning everything in arcs, expect the tale of the Foolhardies to be a long, and hopefully, very fun ride. I'll do my best to publish a chapter daily as I know how it feels to be waiting an extremely long time for the sequel (ahem, ahem, Mr. Martin) and I don't want you guys to wait. Although apologies in advance if I'm late as sometimes the real world and my day job will get in the way. That said, expect chapter 2 - 6 to arrive on time starting tonight. Finally, allow me to welcome you all to the Fayne! Brace yourself, it's going to be foolhardy!
Quality - That's how I would sum up this novel so far. The story is interesting, the characters are engaging, and the setting is portrayed very well. I have no trouble at all imagining the scenes and the grammar is top rate. If the author keeps the quality the same... I have no doubt this will be one of the best novels on this site. One suggestion: make sure your paragraphs aren't too large - Large blocks of text can be offputting on the app. Keep it up the good work! I'll be waiting for future updates.
This is probably the best story I’ve encountered so far. Excellent plot , great pacing , awesome references, likeable characters. It’s on its way to being an amazing story. Reminds me of kingdom when I first started reading that manga but with an excellent fantasy twist. The fantasy elements don’t overpower the realism in this story and that is what makes this amazing read to me. I need more chapters this story is a wonder drug
I always have the good luck of running into novels with good writing. This one probably falls on the high end tier of good writing. Easy to read, amazing MC and some action. It's gonna satisfy all the dorks like us who love gaming and anime. Keep it up GD!
An accidental find but a welcomed one. This book ticked all the boxes I like, fantasy check, magic check, cool sword fights check, people that have brains and aren’t just walking cutouts check. The writing quality is superb I have no problems with its grammar, sentence structure, or paragraphs admittedly I may have overlooked a few things I’m not the best when it comes to these things I’ll be the first to admit that, but the author is super friendly, and strives to better the novel taking on readers advice, and criticism so he tends to edit regularly if anything is out of place. Update stability again excellent above and beyond the call of duty. Most people take a while to update, with original novels especially, but this novel has consistent updates with no drop in quality. Around of applause to the author. Story development is again excellent it has a few more subtle hints than other novels, but it still allows those not so quick on the uptake to enjoy it and make them look back and go ah that’s why that is there. Character design for me is brilliant each character has their own unique voice, and personality their physical description are enough for me, though different people have different tastes, but for me it’s awesome. Running out of positive words to heap upon this book, but I shall try anyway. The world building is fantastic it is mystical, and given in small bites but each bite is expanded upon giving a range of flavors to the reader as they explore this magical realm. The real world isn’t irrelevant either, admittedly you don’t spend a lot of time there since all the cool fun stuff is happening In the Fayne world, but it is still given its own feel, and personality with added relevance to the plot the novel feels a lot more alive compared to others. So in summary an excellent read that anyone remotely interested in fantasy should pick up filled to the brim with wacky highjinks, interesting characters, and I’m proud to say I will be continuing to read this novel to see where it goes. 🙃
So a bunch more chapters in and I feel like sharing another review with potential readers. The development of the whole cast has so far progressed rather smoothly and most characters seem interesting enough that I am looking forward to what they'll do next. The battles written so far do seem rather well thought out, and the focus on the strategic level of what's going on rather than the singular focus on the hero's personal fight(which is much more common in fantasy ime) is both refreshing and a nice fit for Dean's shown capabilities. There stil isn't much to say about the quality of the writing, it is still much better than a lot of stories on WebNovel. The divide between fay and normal world has so far been maintained, but thee have been alusions to issues resulting from having to interact with both.
Hi, I'm from the Ditto Sect and I support this story by GD_Cruz. I'm role playing the brother of the main character. Watch me on how I'll carry Dean through the obstacles sent to us in the Fairy World. Read now!
Hello fellow webnobelers hahahaha Just here to do a review not introduce my self So about the book I love magic so one of the best book for me If any of you out there loves magic try out this book there is action there too
A very interesting story. The mc is a little naive despite being smart but hey, he truly young. At least at his age I didn't make war strategy and fought or killed. This the story of a young man trying is all to give his brother his liberty. From the start we are sent in our world different from our with creature different from us. There some things I don't like in the story(well it's mostly some characters who grate on my nerves ) but all in all this story is truly good. Just a heads up. If you want to see a OP mc who can destroy army with one wave of his hands, this story isn't for you. This story is about a mc who must use his newly obtained power and his mind in order stay ahead of everyone. The fight will generally be large scale wars.
Hmm , the story is good . The story is interesting something new for me . I like the idea . The story is still progressing . Just hoping it will be interesting journey .
This novel is very well written. The author describes the world very well including the action scenes. Promise, you will love how this novel. Give it a try.
I can't help it! This novel is just too good! Clearly well written and deserves attention! All you fantasy readers out there, this is the place to be! Check out THE FOOLHARDIES and save them forever in your library and you won't regret it!
Honest Review This one is great so far! Added to Library right away after first 2 chapters and binged the remaining. The Good: While the characters themselves are nothing unique, the dichotomy between the brothers is good. The setting and world building are great and shows that the author really put in effort into making them feel alive! Love that it's not the traditional good pretty fay vs the evil ugly fay that is so common. The Bad: I don't really like Aura, but that's just me. I also don't like it that they're so young, but that's also just me as I find it hard to believe a 15 year-old has that much wisom and foresight, but I also understand that it is fantasy. Side-note: Maybe I missed it, but why can viseres only visit at night?
[Hacking Webnovel's search engine optimization...] [Attaching a string between 'best' & 'foolhardies...] [System infiltration complete.] [Expect an increase in readers in the following days.]
So first of, the one bad thing I have to say is that the first person narrative is hard to get used to, for me at least. Now to the good, I don't recall any obvious mistakes grammar wise. The rather modern speech of the brothers was a tad weird in the first two or so chapters, until the reader was clued in to the fact that Dean lives in vague time of 'nowish'. Which brings me to the Characters, mostly Dean as I've seen the most of him. While all his motivations and backstory seem well thought out enough, and the backstory fits with how he is portrayed. The only reason I took of a star here is that so far he seems to fit in the somewhat generic mould of Shonen-Manga and anime protagonists, which is not necessarily a bad thing if it gets handled as well as it has been so far down the line. The setting so far is rather similar to a lot of Urban fantasy with the 'Magic' side of the setting hidden in a separate reality. Or at least it looks like it so far. Again not something inherently bad (and something I would expect to be noted on my own story for the very same reason).
