Welcome to the City! A single clustered civilization that makes up 30% of Mother Earth. Anything beyond that is too incomprehensible to be cared about~
Our massive City is divided into 100 Districts, each with their own unique technological advancements and cultures. No two Districts are alike! One could be a land of utter zero privacy with skyscrapers and layered highways, and the next could be a land of strength with oriental warriors and mutants!
So don't forget to equip yourself with equipment and enhancement from Workshops!
They have everything from nano-tattoos, circuitry magitech scrolls, bionic weapons, augmentation procedures, martial-art cards, body bending potions, or even a reality defying technology known as the Tesseract of the World!
Hmm? You want to know my name? Quite a cautious question, if you ask me.
It's Faust Hecates, my esteemed guest~!
Hmm.
Don't you think that it's too early to trust me?

If you're picking this book. Do know that there is a lot of show-not-tell moment. Keep in mind, if the protagonist is talking to something, someone, or himself, he will, and always put on a smile. This detail is rarely mentioned by him narrating it, but the cues throughout the story hinted it, and the people around him will sometimes mention it in their dialog. That took me a moment to notice on first few chapters. Hope this will elevate the experience of whoever as clueless as I do at first read. If not, it is a fun detail to mention imo. Basically, the mc is one smug little basta-
Think of this review as a thread of Q&A as I sorted the possible common questions that people might have regarding this work. If you find that none of the questions matches with the one that you have, you're free to add them in the comments! Q: Where did it take place? A: It takes place in an alternate future of dystopian civilization where earth was governed by a single enigmatic group, along with 50 megacorporations that owned their own portion of Districts. Magic has become science, and technologies became tangible resources for both the rich and the poor. Cultures are cultivated, and a country-sized District was terraformed by the will of large organizations to ensure the human ecosystem—of both preys, and predators. Q: What is this story all about? A: It is about a bizarre and cynical healing-journey of a man that wants to uncover the truth of the unforgivingworld. While also simultaneously being a recovery journey, making a name for himself, for the sake of obtaining that long lost light of achievement. Slowly and surely, building a notorious chain of Syndicate and gathering various technologies, patents, and rose through the Level Threat of the City! Q: Who is the Protagonist? And what type of guy is he? A: Faust Hecates, is the name! He is a man with many scars of the past, hiding it all behind a simple ever smiling face. Unmotivated and self loathing, he avoided all things that positively benefited him, coping with laughter and lying to himself. So if he stated that he didn't know something. Chances are, he is lying :) Though, like all stories, things will change soon, as he needs to commence a vendetta against the grand scheme of the world, and make the best of it! Q: Is he overpowered? A: Yes and no, in many factors! but he won't be the only thing or person that's overpowered. The bizarreness of the casts and their capability will be a great hurdle for our protagonist. Likewise, all the lost and the win will be used as an improvement, and an achievement that is earned through pure efforts. Q: Is there any romance? A: This story is plot and action focused. There will be slow building of romance within the plot, but that won't be the prime focus of the story. Q: I see hàrem tag, is this hárem!? A: Yes, it is. But again, not the main focus, and the amount of romance partners will be kept as realistically to the plot as possible. Likewise, all of them have a significant plot to the stories, and the strength of the organization that Faust will be developing. Q: Why do you, as the author, rate it with the five stars? Are you full of yourself? A: Just like how light can be considered as a wave or particle depending on how it's observed, the experience will be different from person to person. As someone who wrote this story. I have fun, and I hope that you who will read it in the future, will have the same or even more enjoyment than I do :)
I thought that this will be another bad har to the rem. Got clickbaited by the cover and decided to read the sstory anyways. Main Character: 5/5, Faust Hecates was the absolute chad in term of experience and willpower. He is as badàss when the scene makes him up to be, even on the fight he is going to lose. He isnt the type that follow his meat stick either. Just like his name suggest, he follows the interpretation of Faust by Goethe, quoted: "The erudite Faust is highly successful yet dissatisfied with his life, which leads him to make a pact with the Devil at a crossroads, exchanging his soul for unlimited knowledge and worldly pleasures" This version of Faust seems to be the far far aftermath of that interpretation, and you can say that he is on his lowest state until chapter 20ish where, just like in the original Faust, decided to enter the grand scheme of the univese once again, no matter how small it is. (Tho I doubt that it will be small.) Writing Quality: 4,5/5. I can say that the author have read a lot of literature but not having english as his first language. There are errors every couple few chapters but it doesnt change the fact that the way it is written is astounding. It is also written in immersive pov, which mean that we cant fully trust the words of our own narrator, like how the early unmotivated Faust refused that he knew something despite he knew something. World Building: 5/5 god there are a lot of em, densely packed too. Some can be a bit info dumpy but fun enough to read. Supporting/Sub/Background Cast: 5/5, many of them are memorable and some can be distinguished by their way of speaking within their respective dialog. Story Complexity: REFERENCES! THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM AAAAAAAAAA- Whether they are history, fairy tale, literature, nursery rhyme, songs, poem, historical figures, folk lore, etc. Every chapter have one or two or even five of them and some can be missed because how in the actual cheescake that the author knew such thing!? Regardless, the author is new and this work is splendid. Mind you, I wrote this review at chapter 44. Whether it turns out good or bad in the future, it mostly depends on the author. Likewise, this story is a tad niche imo, so some of you might be not find it interesting. Also no, despite of the title, while the way of writing is similar to The Author's POV, the story is mostly learning on Lord of Mystery-ish. As for whether it is good as these two major title or not, it is up to you to decide.
First 20 Chapters impression. Eerie Monster Hunter, but Urban. There is magic, there is tech. Guns are taxed heavily, so people prefer to use body enhancement procedure and potions but the mc didn't have all of that as of moment, but he is already stronger than those who utilize them. It is the nutshell version of it. If you want to know more details, read more :D
Overall Great Story. Too Complex for me to talk about it all, but in a dystopian(?) world with unique details, and characters that are lively and easy to get attached to, it is simply hard to not like it.
I have mixed feelings about the writing, I am on ch 9 and I don't think I understand half of everything I read, because although it looks like good grammar it is deceptively bad, it's structured weird and mistakes are in places where if you read out loud its just wrong, I can't gloss over mistakes in writing, I'm not that kind of reader, the dialogue and quips mc says most of the time I have to read 6 times over to make sure I understood what he was saying, but other than that every character I've seen has a distinct personality, the world although not told in much detail, is very big, and things seem to be happening though I don't understand it
I guess it's alright what else do you need me to say? Go read it, or something. Why are you still here. There are no more witty comments Go read it, smelly.
The story is good, it's worth your time getting invested in it. Tongue-in-cheek first-person protagonist, dystopian urban setting and sci-fi elements. Proof: Trust me bro
