Synopsis

Following planetary devastatation in the aftermath of WWIII, humanity is driven to the brink of extinction as the world is turned into a nuclear wasteland. In order to prevent humanity from being wiped out, a large enclosed dome called the Sanctuary was built during WWIII, saving a small fraction of the world's population.

Overtime, the radiation results in the proliferation of powerful, vicious creatures known as Mutants. Humanity remained sheltered in the Sanctuary, with no way of defending themselves against these creatures, until...

A few decades later, the worldwide radiation results in an evolution in all newly born humans, known as Paragons. Specifically, they are born with a special energy known as X-Factor Energy, or XFE for short, allowing them to potentially harness and manifest this energy into weapon-like forms, giving humanity a way to defend themselves against the rapidly multiplying Mutants.

However, only about five percent of Paragons could successfully manifest their XFE, known as Prodigies. Non-Prodigies are sometimes derogatorily referred to as Duds.

However, of the ninety-five percent of Paragons that fail to become Prodigies, there is a miniscule chance of them developing an ability different to those of the Prodigies. The rare few who achieve this are known as Anomalies.

Kilzachs is a Paragon who, following a series of unfortunate incidents before getting disowned by his father for not turning out to be a Prodigy, finds himself hitting rock bottom through no fault of his own. Furious and outraged, he finds a glimmer of hope when he realizes that he is an Anomaly, and decides to keep it a secret.

Armed with the ability to manipulate time and space, he sets out to prove all those who put him down wrong, by becoming an X-Warrior while maintaining that he's just a Dud with no abilities. Along the way, he does not hesitate to grab any opportunities for revenge...

Having just completed this novel, I can sincerely say I enjoyed the journey this novel took me on. That said, I want to thank the author and encourage them to continue writing, you have excellent talent. Now for those who are thinking of reading this book let me sum up my experience… simply marvellous! I gave it 5 stars in every category. Very few novels here on Webnovel don’t use plot crunches to support themselves, such as transmigration, and reincarnation, as examples. This novel is about a dystopian future where humanity exists at the cliffs edge, holding on by its finger tips. Zac, a boy almost nobody wants and is willing to discard with the trash must find the will to survive… no, the will to rise up and be some one of real worth. That’s my takeaway and I feel better after enjoying the amazing battle and steamy romance chapters. Could have done without the authors comments at the end of each chapter… easily ignored, but provides the reader with contact information if you want to know more. Thank you 🙏

I started reading this because I like the author's other works, so I already had high expectations of it. Once I started reading it I started to love it. The main character is cold and calculative, but unlike slot of other LN on this app the author still shows that he is a human with emotions. I like the characters and their many different interactions. The grammar for this is also far better than a lot of stuff on here. I can't wait to read some more chapters when they come out! Oh, even though I mentioned grammar, I'm not the best at it myself so I shouldn't really complain. Anyway I think you are doing a great job on this.

MC's name is Zax. He starts off cold, and only gets colder. The writing is well above average and thankfully the MC isn't dense. He's an adult. I love where it is going. The betrayal felt natural, evoked some emotion and stuff. I think the mood change from cynical, to sweet, to even more cynical drove away a variety of readers, but not me. Later, it gave weight to the secondary character of Tairo. I hate him soooooo much more. Thanks, author. Oh yeah... Harem. I'll just say... the details are 👌 Criticisms: The character introductions are a little too thorough. The initial testing scene where all the characters were introduced by fighting the instructor felt boring and cluttered. I simply wasn't invested in them yet. It would have been better to introduce them slower, with the same amount of low detail the apathetic MC's POV would have been, and keep many of their details in the writer notes, describing them when they became relevant to MC. Second, the limited use of the "save point" ability irritates me the most. Entire books can revolve around this concept, yet the MC often "forgets" about it, uses it for meaningless things like pranks and sweets, or escape self-imposed consequences. As a literary device, it lowers stakes but the payoff isn't maximized. (That's the whole point of the ability.) Not using it for everything makes the MC seem undisciplined. Also, the brain chip is voice-activated. What? I'm done.

The writing quality is a rich blend of goodness. Mmmmmmnnnn combined with the excellent plot and pacing, this is one of the best books and I’ve read a lot (650+ on this website alone). The best thing about this novel is how real it feels despite having a fantasy element. No one is without flaws/perfect, they all have a unique personality and the main character character isn’t some overpowered big shot who one shots everything without breaking a sweat. Really the only I’d like to see more is frequent updates (which the author has been doing recently) other than that, it’s an amazing story. I’m completely invested.

I'm only 67 chapters in but so far its a really good read. One thing I like about is that the protagonist isn't flat out broken. there are some stories that are good with an op protagonist but not most. This Mc is just strong, not Op, not undefeatable just strong. He uses his ability and experiences through training and real life fighting to defeat his enemy's. He even knows when an enemy is too powerful and needs to back out. I can ramble for a long time on how much I like this story but I'm to lazy to type that much. Anyways keep up the good work author 👍

I really like the novels that you have been working on. I love the way you go about writing it. The way it's as if we are in the head of the MC is amazing and I think it gives more emoting into it and it works really well. during the emotional parts as well it makes it feel as if I'm the Mc. Good job and keep it up!

Truly a unique novel. I was so wrapped up in the story that I couldn't stop! Honestly inspiring and so different from all the other books I've read in nearly 30 years. Makes me want to write again. Thank you for sharing your imagination with the world.

If you love futuristic academy and superpowers, you might want to give this book a try. It has a lot of action to its battles and plot development is stellar. The author does a great job of building up the background of the main character and giving him an attitude based on it. It took me a few chapters to get into it, but it was totally worth it.

Until now that I read (chapter 162-161), it bothers me that Ruby is sleeping with her sister, apart from if you are going to do a chapter like that, do the trio and lengthen it like that it is uncomfortable to read.

I first started reading this because I was bored and now I don't even think about putting my power stones anywhere else. The character development is great, the powers are creative and the grammar is almost perfect. I honestly don't know what I would change. Keep it up!!
